Cosmic Codes - Definitions
The following are some definitions which may be helpful to you in your study of the mysteries of the Bible Codes:
- a·cros·tic [uh-kraw-stik, uh-kros-tik] n.
- A poem or series of lines in which certain letters, usually the first in each line, form a name, motto, or message when read in sequence.
- cryp·tog·ra·phy [krip-tog-ruh-fee] n.
- The process or skill of communicating in or deciphering secret writings or ciphers.
- Secret writing.
- The practice and study of encryption and decryption - encoding data so that it can only be decoded by specific individuals.
- A system for encrypting and decrypting data is a cryptosystem. These usually involve an algorithm for combining the original data (“plaintext”) with one or more “keys” - numbers or strings of characters known only to the sender and/or recipient. The resulting output is known as “ciphertext”.
- crypt·a·nal·y·sis [krip-tuh-nal-uh-sis] n.
- The analysis and deciphering of cryptographic writings or systems. Also crypt·an·a·lyt·ics [krip-tan-l-it-iks] (used with a sing. verb)
- The study of techniques for deciphering cryptographic writings or systems.
- cryp·tol·o·gy [krip-tol-uh-jee] n.
- The study of cryptanalysis or cryptography.
- ci·pher also cy·pher [sahy-fer] n.
- A cryptographic system in which units of plain text of regular length, usually letters, are arbitrarily transposed or substituted according to a predetermined code.
- The key to such a system.
- A message written or transmitted in such a system.
- de·ci·pher [dih-sahy-fer] v. t.
- To translate from secret characters or ciphers into intelligible terms; as, to decipher a letter written in secret characters.
- her·me·neu·tics [hur-muh-noo-tiks, -nyoo-] n. (used with a sing. or pl. verb)
- The theory and methodology of interpretation, especially of scriptural text.
- kab·ba·lah or kab·ba·la or ka·ba·la also ca·ba·la or qa·ba·la or qa·ba·lah [kuh-bawl-uh] n. often Kabbalah
- A body of mystical teachings of rabbinical origin, often based on an esoteric interpretation of the Hebrew Scriptures.
- A secret doctrine resembling these teachings.
- mac·ro·code [mak-ruh-kohd, mak-roh-] n.
- Computer Science A coding system in which single codes generate several sets of instructions.
- A single code that represents a set of instructions.
- ta·chyg·ra·phy [ta-kig-ruh-fee, tuh-] n.
- The art or practice of rapid writing or shorthand, especially the stenography of the ancient Greeks and Romans.
- sys·tem [sis-tuhm] n.
- A group of interacting, interrelated, or interdependent elements forming a complex whole.
